          German G+S Delhi based Motherson 
          Sumi Systems Ltd has reached an agreement with German insolvency 
          administrators to acquire a running plastics injection molding 
          company, G+S Kunststofftechnik Gmbh (G+S), located near Stuttgart in 
          Germany. 
          Centre Plans Guideline 
          For Uniform Action Against NSQ Medical Devices The Central Drugs 
          Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has decided to prepare a 
          guideline for uniform action against the manufacture of not of 
          standard quality (NSQ) medical devices, diagnostic reagents, 
          diagnostic kits etc. The guideline would prescribe the exact 
          procedures to be followed and action to be taken against the 
          manufacturers by every state drug controller.

          Device Control On August 2 The Central Government 
          is likely to bring in amendments to Drugs and Cosmetic Rules within 
          three months to arm the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) 
          to regulate the entire range of medical devices manufactured or 
          marketed in the country. 
          Care To Implant New 
          Cardiac Device In 100 Patients As Part Of Global Study The Hyderabad based 
          Care Hospitals will soon start screening patients suffering from 
          atrial fibrillation, a condition in which the upper chamber of the 
          heart beat becomes too fast leading to blood clots, for implanting 
          'Watchman' device among 100 patients free, as part of a worldwide 
          study. 
          NGO Launches Nationwide 
          Campaign Against Unapproved Medical Devices Public Response Against 
          Helplessness and Action for Redressal (PRAHAR), a Delhi based 
          non-governmental organisation, has launched a multi-city campaign 
          'Making Cardiac Care Fair' against implant of 'life threatening 
          illegal medical devices' on unsuspecting patients. 
          Relisys To Commission 
          New Catheter Facility By Early 2005 Relisys Medical Devices 
          will soon commission its catheter manufacturing facility at 
          Ibrahimpatnam near Hyderabad. The facility is expected to go on stream 
          by December 2005 and the trial runs are likely to start from January 
          2006.  
          Relisys To Initiate 
          Int'l Registry For New Version DES The Hyderabad based 
          Relisys Medical Devices is initiating an international multi-centre 
          registry to create data on its new version of Drug Eluting Stent 
          (DES). The new version consists of a cobalt-chromium stent, coated 
          with porus carbon-carbon nano-matrix containing the active drug, which 
          eliminates the use of polymer, thus reducing the tissue inflammation 
          and reaction. |
