ISO 9002 to surgimedik

Mumbai based Surgimedik was established in 1997 to manufacture and market medical devices in the field of Urology, Gastroenterology, Radiology, Nephrology and Gynaecology. Surgimedik received ISO 9002/EN 46002 accreditation from DNV Norway in November 2000 CE certification for few products was also received, with this Surgimedik can export to Europe too.

Emerging markets including India are now in focus, with several international pharmaceutical and biotech majors seeking to strengthen their global clinical trials.

The number of international pharmaceutical companies entering into collaboration is on the rise, with countries like India, China, Israel, Russia and Latam being actively sounded out for outsourcing clinical trials.

The need to outsource such trials is because of the small population base in advanced countries like the US and Europe.

Located in what was once the corporate headquarters of Adani Ports Ltd, the Mahadevia’s Oral Health Academy is a plush, ti-tech place, offering a range of dental treatment as well as ongoing education facilities for practicing dentists.

With 11,000 sq.ft. of space provided free by the Adani Group, the Mahadevia family trust has invested around Rs.50 lakh on the superstructure of the facility, where 5,000 sq.ft. are allocated to the hospital and the rest for the continuing education centre dentists.

Gujarat has two dental colleges in Ahmedabad and Jamnagar, which have graduated 100 and 40 students a year respectively. Ahmedabad has around 400 practising dentists, all of whom are likely to benefit from the new academy. Says Nailesh Gandhi, former president of the Indian Dental Association and director on the Mahadevia Dental Hospital Board, "We plan to bring in top speakers from all over India and abroad, to enhance the knowledge of students and practitioners at the clinic."

Besides dentistry related knowledge, the new academy also plans to enhance management skills of the dentistry profession, providing courses on time management, information technology marketing and tax management.
