Adonis Medical Equipment to launch C-Arm

The Mohali-based Adonis Medical Equipments Pvt Ltd plans to launch its new product C-Arm by the end of the year. It aims to bring different types of products with conventional technology (economical) and high frequency generator to compete with the imported units.

Established in 1991, the company manufactures Multiformat Cameras. The equipment is attached to ultrasound scanners. C-Arms, Endoscopic equipments for taking pictures on the imaging devices. This equipment is a necessity for recording images for reference and for consultation. According to the director of the company Arun Kaul, Adonis is presently the only company in the country manufacturing multiformat cameras on the national network. Recently, the company had also set up another venture for manufacturing of X-ray machines. The range of these machines varies from 60 mA to 500 mA. Recently, the company has signed an MOU with Punjab State Electronic Dev. and Prodn. Corpn.

Apollo Hospitals in tie-up talks with US firms to develop managed-care products

Apollo Hospitals is talking to two major companies in the US to develop a `managed-care’ product in India. The move is in anticipation of receiving a licence, once health insurance is privatised, allowing 26 percent foreign equity.

Managed-care, unlike standard health insurance schemes, focusses on keeping an individual healthy with regular awareness programmes and periodic check-ups. Apollo is already running a managed-care scheme, alongwith a company called Family Healthcare, using the health insurance product of GIC. Speaking at the AGM of Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd in Chennai, Dr Reddy announced the launch of a cardiac rehabilitation programme by Dassera that will provide holistic guidance to heart patients. In the next 3 years, the company pans to add 2600 beds in 11 multi-speciality hospitals, 16 primary care hospitals and 23 day care hospitals with an investment of Rs.2000 crore.
